Okay, so you’ve managed to find a super VA, but you just don’t know where to begin or what to start allocating to her. You just know that working with a VA is a great idea, and the potential is huge, but you’re stuck! What do you do?
Do you know… this happens more often that you would realize. Generally the scenario plays out like this: A busy entrepreneur or CEO has heard his colleagues rave about how wonderful their lives have been since bringing a VA on to their team… but when that entrepreneur or CEO finally takes the plunge, he has absolutely no idea where to begin.
My advice has always been this; spend a week recording what you do in your business and how long you spend doing it. Then at the end of the week, sit down and analyse the results. I can guarantee that there will be wasted time spent on areas of your business that are totally non-income producing and admin based which you could easily outsource, thus freeing yourself up to go out and bring home the bacon (so to speak) or even just to have some quality downtime… Perhaps you are doing work that you hate to do, but it’s work that needs to be done in order to keep the business flowing? Perhaps you’re trying to do tasks that you just aren’t good at and which take you way too long to complete.
Why punish yourself by being bogged down with the ‘administrivia’ when you should be able to enjoy the fruits of your labour. Isn’t that one of the reasons why you’re in your own business after all?
If you’re really just wanting to ‘test the water’, start your new virtual team member with one task and see how it goes. If you’re happy and feeling confident, you can add more tasks that your VA can handle for you… it’s okay to start with a few things and build up.
